How to make (invisible) friends on 3 different budgets

Updated: Mar 18, 2022

Whether you've got 0.5, 2.5 or 5 ETH, we've got the play for you

Show me someone that doesn't think this is tight AF and I'll show you a liar - Invisible Friends adds another dimension

Arguably the most successful NFT launch of the year, Invisible Friends and their sick art can do little wrong. Boom(er)ing onto the secondary market with a 9 ETH floor price (currently 6.6) and with a transparent whitelisting process, these guys are here to stay. The marketing hasn't fully ramped up yet as we still have a few months to go, but mid 2022 will see the launch of the 3D Invisible Friends collection.

Their roadmap and announcements have stated that priority for minting one of these will go to IF holders, so play number 1 is pretty obvious:

1: BUY INVISIBLE FRIENDS AND MINT A 3D ONE - 6.6 ETH

Given we'll have to wait at least 3 months - an eternity in NFT world - to see the new drop, we can officially say we're early, which means a few things in terms of price action.

  • Invisible Friends floor price will go up as wallet collection grows nearer

  • The floor price will drop after the wallet collection

  • The 3D IF floor price will start pretty high - minimum 5 ETH

  • The 3D IF floor price will drop after art has been revealed - buyers tend to hold and hope they minted a rare one then sell if they didn't

  • It'll most likely bounce up again after that - extreme sell pressure after art reveal wears off and floor recovers to natural level, usually slightly below initial floor

That's a lot of information, but there's multiple plays here depending what you want. If you want an Invisible Friend to keep for instance, buy now or just after wallet collection. If you want to flip IF3D, buy an Invisible Friend now, get your wallet address collected, hold it, flip the IF3D straight away, then sell your Invisible Friend once the floor recovers again.

"I don't have that kind of cash, what's the 0.5 ETH play?"

I'm so glad you asked. There are currently 4.1K different Invisible Friend holders, with each of those entitled to mint one IF3D, and likely another 900 up for grabs. The mods have said any remaining mint spots will be offered to holders of their other collections: MoodRollers and SlimHoods.

A query before the wallet collection for Invisible Friends: hold 4 or more Random Character Collective NFTs to be in the top 900 wallets...and in prime location to mint an IF3D

2: BUY 5+ MOODROLLERS AND STEAL AN IF3D MINT SPOT - 2.5+ ETH

This might well be the rattiest play of the century if you pull it off. A blue chip mint spot worth at least 5 ETH - likely nearer 10 - and you can buy access now for 2.5 ETH. If you've been holding cash lately and buy the ETH now you've won twice. The obvious drawback is the barrier to entry might increase and whales will take notice of this tactic too - why pay 6.6 ETH for an Invisible Friend to mint when you can pay 5 ETH for 10 RCC NFTs to mint? There's no guarantee you get a mint spot, but this brings us on to play number 3.

3: BUY AND FLIP MOODROLLERS - 0.5+ ETH

MoodRollers are the collection of choice here because the floor is lower than SlimHoods at time of writing, though the market will regulate the two to be equal nearer to wallet collection - another reason to buy. If people can't afford Invisible Friends, they'll sure take a punt hoovering up some other RCCs in the hope they can steal a mint spot and because we're so early here, the price is only going up.

Ahead of the Invisible Friends mint, all RCCs were 2.5 ETH+, and while we don't expect them to rise that high due to no guarantees of a mint spot, we expect they'll at least track the floor price of Invisible Friends at a rate of 5 or 6:1 - expect the floor to go up to at least 1-1.5 ETH here.

Not bad huh? Double or triple your money in a couple clicks. Don't say we didn't warn you if you miss out.
